Team Paraguay accumulates 25 medals so far in the Asunción 2022 South American Games, in addition to the chess and paddle tennis medals, which, as they are invited sports, do not add up to the final medal table. This Monday the national delegation will compete in various modalities and aims to continue expanding athletes on the podium.
On Saturday and Sunday, they were full of adrenaline at the SND Arena. The protagonists, once again, were Paraguayan basketball playerswho in vibrant matches left a silver medal for the ODESUR Games medal table.
The team of the National Secretary of Sports entered the locker room of the silver warriors, and shared the words of encouragement given by the team captain, Paula Ferrari her teammates and the Technical Director of the Women’s Basketball Team, Christian Viveros.

“Who was going to believe what we did in this Odesur. I mean, we believed and said, I wish there were 100 people in the SND Arena, and this is incredible, so girls, I tell you to enjoy and teach everyone what the values of sports are, take this to your clubssaid the athlete.
On the other hand, the captain recalled the sacrifice of each athlete in this modality and said, “I hope this has repercussions because you are worth a lot, you have 3 to 4 jobs and then you train. Now they are going to value us and we are not going to stop. Now we go to the Pan American Games. At 37 years old, I never thought it would come to this,” she said.

gabriel mosqueiramedalist in rowing, who attended the event, said that the support of the public who never expected so much enthusiasm is incredible.
“We thought that our relatives would come but not so many people but this is a very positive pressure. From now on we are going to say that Paraguay is good at rowing, at women’s basketball, at rugby. From now on, the athletes are having more exposure and we hope that the public will continue to support us” he concluded.

The Minister of Sports, Diego Galeano Harrisonwho presented the gold, silver and bronze medals to the teams from Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay, respectively, said that “this is incredible, we are ending a week full of emotions, with many people here today at the SND, today a game with 6 hours of line of people who were encouraged. More than happy with the organization, it makes me happy for the athletes. Seeing our athletes feeling this popular support is the most important thing. This match, this tournament full of Paraguayans excites us and also that the medals continue to stay at home”, he concluded.
