A man of Ecuadorian nationality was captured at the Tocumen International Airport as he filed a complaint for the theft of a diamond ring, valued at more than $9,000.
The item was stolen from a couple of Americans in a hotel room in the town where they were staying, so when they realized that the jewel was missing, they filed the relevant complaint.
According to Major María Gutierrez, from the Tourism Police Service, the man was arrested when he was trying to leave the country in the company of his partner at the Tocumen International Airport.
Upon being verified, this person kept the ring in his possession and at the time of the arrest stated his responsibility for the act.
The citizen was placed at the orders of the competent authorities for their respective processing.
