The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, repudiated the fact and decreed this Friday as a non-working day for the population to show solidarity with Cristina Fernández. The attacker, a 35-year-old Brazilian, has a criminal record and has tattoos related to Nazi symbolism
During the night of Thursday, September 1, security officials in Argentina arrested a man who pointed a gun at the vice president of that country, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, when she arrived at her home in the La Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
The tense moment was captured on video and broadcast on social networks. There Fernández is observed greeting the protesters who support him in the judicial process that follows him, and who decided to camp near her house, when a weapon appears in front of her.
The Argentine vice president gets scared and that is when her escorts act to defend her.
The attacker, a Brazilian national, camouflaged himself in the crowd, took out the pistol, which was loaded with five bullets, pointed it at the head of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and pulled the trigger, but it did not fire. https://t.co/r5avEoV38u pic.twitter.com/01Pa5TCFnc

After the incident, the president of that country, Alberto Fernández, sent a recorded message in which he reproaches the attack of which Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has been a victim and warns that it is the “most serious event that has happened since we have recovered our democracy.”
In his opinion, the vice president is still alive because “for an unconfirmed technical reason”, the weapon that was used against her did not work despite having five bullets in her comb.
He stressed that there is the right to think differently because we live in a democracy, but speeches that promote hate “cannot take place because they engender violence and there is no possibility that violence coexists with democracy.”
He asked everyone to reproach any act of violence and isolate those words aimed at disqualifying and offending, since they only divide Argentines. Similarly, he asked the judge handling the case to preserve the attacker’s life and to clarify the facts as quickly as possible.
“For this reason, I have decided to declare a national holiday tomorrow so that, in peace and harmony, the Argentine people can express themselves in defense of life, democracy and in solidarity with our vice president.”
It was learned that the judges in the case visited the residence of Vice President Cristina Fernández while the investigations progress in the middle of a holiday decreed by the government in light of this fact.
The aggressor was identified as Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel, a 35-year-old Brazilian citizen who has lived in Argentina since 1993 and who works as a taxi driver.
Argentine media indicate that Sabag Montiel has a criminal record. In March 2021 he was prosecuted for having an unconventional white weapon, arguing that this large knife was for his personal defense.
In addition, it is described that Cristina Fernández’s aggressor has several tattoos related to Nordic and Germanic mythology, including one on the shoulder that represents a “Schwarze Sonne”, a black sun, a symbol linked to the occult philosophy of Nazism and used by the Adolf Hitler’s SS.
