Members of the General Directorate for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking highlighted in the Carrasco International Airport They arrested a couple of a man and a woman, both of foreign nationality, when they tried to traffic cocaine in finger cots that they hid in their body by ingesting them.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the suspicions began during a routine check-in of a dump bound for Madrid (Spain). The couple, made up of a 48-year-old Paraguayan woman and a 38-year-old Argentine man, were preparing to board the aircraft for a final destination in Paris (France).
The agents did not find anything in the luggage of these people, but when taking their statement they presented inconsistencies in what was said. The authorities, aware of the usual criminal practice of ingesting drugs to take them to another country and then expel them, suspected that it was a case of this, for which they questioned those investigated.
129 capsules of cocaine
The woman denied hiding drugs, but the man admitted introducing 70 finger cots of cocaine into his body and that his partner did the same with another 60. Then, the woman took another ten capsules with this substance out of her underwear.
Both people were arrested and transferred to the Maciel Hospital. In the medical center, the authorities waited for the capsules to be expelled, which finally numbered 129.
The total weight of the drug was 1,716 grams. In addition to the cocaine, these people seized 1,000 euros, 800 dollars, 410 Argentine pesos, 2,000 Guarani and 300 Uruguayan pesos, as well as two cell phones.
Finally, the fiscal Valerio charged these two people before the 7th Criminal Court of First Instance. The crime for which they were accused corresponded to the export of narcotic substances, in attempted degree. The Justice ordered a precautionary measure of preventive detention for a period of 120 days.
