Eight people were arrested in the Boquete district, Chiriquí province after being involved in an altercation with the National Police where several units were attacked.
Two of them were brutally attacked with bottles and stones to the point of being incapacitated for 15 and 30 days.
The attack occurred when the police tried to enforce the Mayor’s Decree that regulates the hours for the sale of alcohol, by a group of citizens who were drinking liquor in bars in the sector known as El Cholodromo.
According to the police, the detainees were taken before the competent authorities in order to determine the responsibilities.
Despite the confrontation, the Police assures that no civilian knows that none of the civilian citizens was injured.
They also detailed that the Directorate of Professional Responsibility (DRP) is conducting investigations into the case to verify the use of the firearm.
