SANTO DOMINGO.- The Army arrested four men, including a retired second lieutenant of the Police for trafficking undocumented immigrants, in an operation carried out in different provinces of the country.
In the community of Martín García, Montecristi, a Haitian identified as Lico Pie, 30 years old, was arrested, who was guiding a group of 11 undocumented immigrants on foot through a wooded area. In addition, a so-called Chilean weapon was allegedly confiscated. and a capsule for it.

In another incident, in Montecristi, members of the Army at the Mangá checkpoint detained José Amado Vargas Guzmán in a gold Toyota Camry vehicle, transporting 16 undocumented Haitians.
While in Las Matas de Farfán in the province of San Juan, Roque Guzmán Paulino and retired Police Lieutenant Arcadio Ramón García were arrested, who were trying to evade a checkpoint by carrying three Haitians without documents in a white Kia; García allegedly carried a pistol with illegible numbers.
In another military operation carried out in Mao, Valverde, the Army intercepted two Toyota Previa minivans (white and red) that were transporting Haitians in an irregular situation. After a chase, seven of them were arrested, while the drivers and other occupants fled.
In a statement, the Army explained that the detainees, the vehicles and a homemade weapon were taken to the 4th. Infantry Brigade for the corresponding procedures.
According to the institution, all detainees transporting foreigners with irregular immigration status will be presented to the Public Ministry for the corresponding purposes.
