During the chase, the attackers tried to take refuge in a home, where they were finally detained without any casualties being reported. At the scene, the troops seized eight long weapons, five short weapons, a rifle, 60 magazines of different calibers, 56 useful cartridges, three vehicles and eight motorcycles, in addition to the property used by the alleged aggressors.
The 13 detained people, allegedly belonging to the “La Mayiza” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, were placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry, who will integrate the investigation folder and determine their legal situation.

The Secretariat of the Navy, together with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), highlighted that these types of operations are part of the security reinforcement in areas with a high presence of criminal groups in Sinaloa, particularly in municipalities such as Navolato, Culiacán and Salvador Alvarado, where clashes and seizures of weapons have recently been reported.
Since September 9, 2024, violence has not ceased in the state governed by Rubén Rocha. Day or night, the cradle of the Sinaloa Cartel records homicides, car thefts, shootings and confrontations as part of the dispute between “Los Chapitos” and “Los Mayitos.”
The wave of violence began six weeks after the arrest of capo Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, registered on July 25, 2024 in the United States. Since then, murders and car thefts have increased more than 200%, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.
In August 2024, the entity reported 44 victims per month, for the following month the figure shot up to 143, that is, in the first month of the “war” there was an increase of 225%. Compared to July of this year, the latest official data available, the increase amounts to 286%.
