The president of the Interactive Foundation to Promote the Culture of Water (Fipca), Julio Urien, one of the organizations calling for the 7th March to Lago Escondido “in defense of sovereignty,” stressed this Friday that this multisectoral mobilization, which It will begin this weekend, “it will be solid and very numerous” and “it will show that around” English billionaire Joe Lewis “there is power, but we are going to show that popular power also exists.”

“They do not respect the laws, they are the power. We, with the mobilizations, are going to show that popular power also exists. This new march will show the coordination that exists in the national and popular field in defense of Sovereignty”raised the referent of Fipca, an entity that seeks to debate the defense of natural resources while promoting the access of the popular majorities to water sports.

Urien was a lieutenant of a frigate and in 1972 he rose up together with a group of Navy troops to support the return of General Juan Domingo Perón to Argentina, he participated in the militancy in Montoneros and was imprisoned during the dictatorship; during the government of Néstor Kirchner he was in charge of the PAMI delegation in the municipality of San Martín.

The realization of the new march to Lago Escondido, on the outskirts of El Bolsón, will be announced at a press conference that will take place in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.

One of the participants will be precisely Urien, who received a delegation from the Federation of Industry, Energy, Services and Allied Workers (FeTIA) of the CTA, led by trade unionist Pedro Wasiejko.

The union organization announced that it will join the march that will go through both the so-called ‘road of Tacuifí’ as by the mountain route with the intention of accessing Lago Escondido.

“The members of this federation of workers (for the FeTIA) met with Urien at the headquarters of the CTA de los Trabajadores to finalize details of what will be the participation of this entity in the 7th March for Sovereignty to Lago Escondido” , reported the union entity in a statement.

A wide range of social, political and union organizations will participate in the march in that mountainous region of Río Negro to denounce the existence of a “British enclave” that functions as “the cave of a mafia power that seeks to condition democracy.”

The meeting between Urien, Wasiejko and the leadership of the FeTIA also participated Edgardo DepetriSecretary of Social Assistance at FeTIA, and Ruben CiuroSecretary of Human Rights of the organization.

After the meeting, Urien recounted that “Companions from different parts of the country are already in the Lago Escondido area” and explained that the protesters are part of “both the Workers’ CTA and the Autonomous CTA, along with Father Paco (Francisco Olveira) of Priests in Option for the Poor, among other groups.”

“We began to coordinate and mobilize peacefully. We put our leathers in the face of their attacks with the will to defend our sovereignty,” Urien stressed, referring to the armed guards who work for Lewis and who in previous years even resorted to physical aggression to prevent the protesters from passing.

In turn, Wasiejko recalled that Judges and prosecutors met with directors of Grupo Clarín at Lewis’s property in Lago Escondido.

“Coincidentally, they are the same ones that persecute (the vice president) Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and issue rulings that harm the workers,” highlighted the trade unionist and president of Astilleros Río Santiago.

And I add: “We must end the impunity of those who believe that through money and influence they can appropriate the patrimony of Argentines. We are going to continue demanding that public roads be opened that belong to all Argentines”.

For his part, Depetri considered that the new edition of the March for Sovereignty “reveals one of the great debates of the moment, which is the defense of democracy but also the denunciation of the pirate and swindler of our forests and lakes, Joe Lewis, who financed and organized the scandalous trip of macrista journalists, officials and judges”.

Depetri also said that at Lewis’ ranch in Lago Escondido “the sentence and proscription of compañera Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was written.”

In Urien’s meeting with the leaders of the CTA, it was remarked that one of the central points of the mobilization will be to demand that Joe Lewis, the Judiciary and the provincial government of Arabela Carreras “arbitrate the means to comply with the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the province of Río Negro and the Chamber of Bariloche that orders the roads of Tacuafí and Montaña del Cajón Azul to be enabled to enter the public lake”.

The organizers of the march denounced once again that Lago Escondido, a 7-square-kilometer body of water located between National Route 40 and the border with Chile, between the towns of El Foyel and El Bolsón, “was appropriated by the English businessman illegally”.
