A tragic incident of violence was recorded in the Luis Hurtado Higuera sector, at kilometer 12 of El Junquito, where two officials of the Bolivarian National Police Corps (CPNB) lost their lives after being attacked with firearms.
According to preliminary reports, the event occurred at approximately 11:00 am in the upper part of the Tipetiripe sector.
Allegedly, the officers were involved in a heated argument with a subject known under the alias “El Coco”, who would have drawn a firearm to attack those present.
At the scene of the event, one of the uniformed men died instantly, while the second was rushed to the Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital, where he was admitted without vital signs. In the same incident, a citizen, whose identity was not specified, was injured and is under medical observation.
The fatal victims, who were brothers, were assigned to different units of the police force. The first officer Jota Rebolledo, belonging to the Aquatic Spaces Division, and the second officer Jinson Rebolledo, assigned to the Vehicle Theft and Theft Division.
Commissions of the PNB and the Scientific, Criminal and Criminalistic Investigations Corps were deployed in the area of kilometer 12 to carry out the removal of the bodies and begin the corresponding investigations.
The authorities maintain a search operation to find the whereabouts of alias “El Coco”, identified as the main person responsible for the double homicide.
