They are looking for assassins of an Army officer

Several teams of Police investigators searched this morning in the La Ureña sector and surrounding areas, in Santo Domingo Este, in search of the perpetrators of the death yesterday of an Army officer who worked in the Presidency Press Office.

It was unofficially reported that two people are on the trail, whose names were not revealed so as not to hinder the investigation.

Luis Pérez Ruiz, first lieutenant of the Army, assigned to the press team of the Presidency of the Republic, was killed when he was preparing to leave his residence aboard the white Mazda car.

Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for policesaid that so far 10 people have been interviewed, seeking to find those responsible for the event.

Pérez Ruiz was struck by several bullets that caused his death, when he was preparing to leave the house. His attackers took their regulation weapon.

The preliminary report of the Police indicates that they are continuing the search for two men in the process of identification.

The investigation is being carried out by officers attached to the Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim) in coordination with representatives of the Public Ministry, who are seeking more details to establish the real circumstances in which the event occurred.

They are also awaiting the results of the autopsy that is carried out by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
