León Orellana Medina, 79 years old, has been missing for 14 days and there are no traces of his whereabouts. He was last seen on October 1st.
The man, who is originally from Cochabamba, lived alone in the Cerro Azul de Concepción community and was dedicated to small-scale agriculture and livestock.
“It’s as if the earth has swallowed him. Nobody has seen it. We looked for him everywhere for a week and there is no sign,” said Emiliano Orellana, one of his six children.
Emiliano says that during those days the forest firefighters were working in the area and they didn’t see him either.
“It’s strange. On October 1st they saw him in the community and the next day he was gone. The only one there was the dog that was inseparable from him,” he explained.
León Orellana Medina has six children, four boys and two girls, who live in San Julián and Yapacaní, most of them professionals, but according to Emiliano, he insisted on working in the fields despite his advanced age.
The case is known to the Concepción Police and Prosecutor’s Office. At the moment there is one arrested, as a suspect. He is a man who worked for León cutting wood.
The prosecution seized the accused’s phone and it is expected that the calls will be split to see if they find any information that would help provide any clues.
At the moment, there is no indication. However, the children believe that seeing him alone, he could have been kidnapped or victimized to take his property.
