Evelyn Pineda and her 9 -year -old son, both HIV carriers, were referred to the hospital for lung complications, but could not be admitted because “there were no available beds.”

Havana, Cuba.- “They are slowly killing all Cubans,” denounced the Cuban Evelyn Pineda Concepción, who has once again raised his voice against the island’s public health authorities demanding that they provide urgent medical assistance to her and her son.

The young mother and her son William Echevarría Pineda, nine years old, are HIV carriers And they have been trying to obtain adequate medical care for the lung infection they present. However, they have not achieved it despite the risk of their lives.

On September 15, the young woman accompanied by the child went to the Polyclinic Ángel Machaco Ameijeiras of the Guanabacoa municipality, where he resides, to provide medical assistance because they were presenting “a lot of cold, lack of air, fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

Once attended by the mother guard and son doctor they were diagnosed with “pulmonary reinforcement” and, in the case of it, they also told him that he presented a “pleural effusion in the right lung that affects his breathing, therefore, he was urgently referred to the hospital.

“I went to the beneficial (Miguel Enrique surgical clinical hospital) there they repeated the plaque (X -rays) and they confirmed that I had the pleural spill, but they told me that I was sorry with me, but that they had no bed to enter me,” said Pineda Concepción that was sent for the house with treatment.

Among the indications was that he had to take aerosol in the polyclinic of his town from time to time. However, he could never do it because “there was no oxygen, there really was nothing,” he said.

“As the air offenses increased yesterday (Monday) I went back to the body of the polyclinic and sent me back there and they told me the same thing even though several days have passed,” said the young woman.

In the case of his son, he details, his state of health worsened after starting treatment with azithromycin, as an incorrect dose was indicated by the polyclinic doctors.

“When I asked a pediatrician, he told me that the child had to have indicated half of an azithromycin and not the dose he was taking,” said the woman.

Pineda Concepción also said that by attending her son to the Machaco Polyclinic, she found that there was no physiological serum to put her son who was suffering from much decay, to the point of not being able to stand.

“I know that the beds are worth 5,000 pesos in the hospitals because that was the topic of conversation of all those who were there, because they are selling them, they have tremendous business with that but I do not have that money and you have to enter because I am going to die,” he demanded.

This is not the first time that Pineda Concepción denounces the lack of medical care that she and her son suffer. Last April The young woman denounced in an interview with Cubanet The medical abandonment suffered by his son, who did not go to consultation with specialists for nine months because the municipal authorities had no transport to take it to the IPK (Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute).

Pineda Concepción is a member of the opponent movement for a new Republic (MONR), a non -governmental organization that faces the Cuban regime, which qualifies as the main basis for the public health of the regime not to provide attention.

“I think that behind this is the hand of state security, which they want me and my son to die because they know we have complex diseases,” he lamented.
