The approval, in the second debate, of reestablishing the date of November 1, “Children’s Day”, starting in 2025, means returning the popularity of its celebration and, from the perspective of the Chamber of Commerce, the economic injection, in these terms it is based the discussion of Bill 72.
Opening the period for issuing criteria, the parliamentarians, who spoke, focused part of the support that, once again, recovers the essence of the date, taking advantage of summer time, school holidays and because it is the first day in which the festivities of the Month of the Homeland begin.
In the end, it was concluded that it was not a matter of approving a superficial instrument and Bill 72, which declares November 1 of each year as Children’s Day in the Republic of Panama, was moved to the third debate.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS WILL PRIORITIZE YOUR RIGHTS
The project, which was approved article by article, obtaining a majority of 43 votes in favor, establishes that all educational and cultural institutions in the country must promote and carry out activities to celebrate Children’s Day.
The initiative was modified in its article 4 so that it comes into effect from the year 2025 and not this year, as stipulated in the original document.
According to the arguments, its approval corrects a historical error, since the celebration of Children’s Day, on November 1, corresponded to beginning the acts in which Panamanians identify themselves with the term “Homeland” and, therefore, It awakened that patriotic value.
They added to the debate that it is not just about having a date to honor boys and girls, but also honoring future generations, as well as strengthening the Panamanian family that, lately, they argued, has been deteriorating.
