They approve a bill on the treatment of animals

The text proposes integrating definitions such as companion animals, community animals, abuse, among other concepts.

The Permanent Commission for Comprehensive Social Development approved this Thursday the Bill for the Dignified Treatment of Companion Animals, which will be presented in the coming days before the National Assembly for its first discussion.

The president of the parliamentary body, deputy Rodolfo Crespo (PSUV/Miranda), offered the information and explained that the purpose of the bill is to promote dignified treatment and recognition of the rights of companion animals in order to deter and neutralize the speciesist violence and acts of abuse.

Similarly, establish a framework of State obligations as well as the strengthening and execution of public policies to ensure the protection and guarantee of the rights of companion animals, highlights the agency’s press release.

The deputy stressed that the text proposes to integrate definitions such as companion animals, community animals, assisted intervention animals, service or assistance animals, protection entities, sterilization, abuse, service providers and those responsible.
