
Dr. Carlos Alvarado was appointed as the new president of the Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS). This was announced by the head of the Health portfolio, Nuramy Gutiérrez González, through the social network Instagram.

According to the Ministry of Health, Alvarado is a surgeon and stood out as a minister of the portfolio who faced the covid-19 pandemic.
“Carlos Humberto Alvarado is a surgeon, recognized as the Minister of Popular Power for Health who successfully faced, under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro, the attacks of the covid-19 pandemic and his management at the head of the Hugo Chávez Frías University of Health Sciences,” they indicated.
Alvarado assumes the position to replace Magaly Gutiérrez, who had been at the head of the IVSS since 2018. “The Venezuelan government thanks the lawyer Magaly Gutiérrez for her painstaking work at the head of the IVSS and congratulates its working class, professionals and technicians for their permanent commitment to the right to health of the Venezuelan people,” they indicated.
