The Public Ministry reports that it has appointed a National Prosecutor specialized in matters against corruption that is being prosecuted. several complaints against officials assigned to the Maracaibo Mayor’s Office, for crimes provided for in the catalog of criminal types of the Anti-Corruption Law, the statement states.
In this sense, in the next few hours, in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Code of Criminal Procedure (COPP), the case will be presented in court by citizen Rafael Ramírez Colina, mayor of the aforementioned municipality, and other collaborators to be charged by the serious irregular acts that are attributed to them: this is based on the investigations carried out in coordination with the National Anti-Corruption Police: where the Public Ministry collected sufficient elements of conviction and reliable evidence that incriminates those investigated.
These actions are carried out within the framework of the fight for the improvement of public administration undertaken by the institutions of the Venezuelan State, in defense of the interests of the Nation.
It should be remembered that a total of fifteen complaints filed with the Municipal Comptroller’s Office motivated the arrest of the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez, on the night of Tuesday, October 1.
