The Executive Branch made official the appointment of a new General Commander of the Peruvian Army through a supreme resolution published in the Legal Standards bulletin of the Official Gazette El Peruano. It is about Oswaldo Martín Calle Talledo.
The designation, which comes into effect as of January 1, 2026, is part of the regular changes in the military High Command and responds to the procedures established for the leadership of the Armed Forces.
The General Commander of the Army plays a key role in the direction of the land military institution, responsible for the defense of national sovereignty, support for internal order and participation in risk management actions and emergency response in the country.
The resolution was endorsed by the President of the Republic and the Minister of Defense, without further details on the reasons for the replacement, as usually occurs in this type of appointments.
The change occurs in a context of reorganization and institutional strengthening, in which the Defense sector seeks to ensure the operational and strategic continuity of the Army in the face of current national security challenges.
