On the first day of vaccination of the general population with the bivalent vaccine, the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) reported that 3,289 doses were applied nationwide.
The report indicates that in the Panama Metro region, 1,550 doses were applied, followed by Panama Oeste with 654, San Miguelito 471, Herrera 232, Darién 60 and Panamá Norte with 58 doses.
In addition, the Bocas del Toro region with 48 doses, Chiriquí 48, Colón 47, Coclé 42, Panama East 37, Veraguas 36 and the Ngäbe-Buglé region.
The Expanded Immunization Program also indicates that 1,368 doses of the bivalent vaccine were applied at specific vaccination points such as the subway: Soho Mall 654, Albrook terminal 408, La Doña Station 180, Del Carmen Church 72 and 5 de Mayo Station 54 .
The Ministry of Health informs that, as of this Monday, February 6, the vaccination day will continue in all the health centers of the country, the Polyclinics of the Social Security Fund and private hospitals.
Additionally, extramural inoculation days will be carried out at key points from Monday to Friday, such as the Metro stations in the capital, while in a coordinated manner they will be vaccinating in State institutions and private companies.
This new vaccine provides greater protection against the original strain and Ómicron, so this stage is implemented considering the summer season prior to carnival and health tours.
The bivalent vaccine is placed from the age of 12 and the person must have at least two monovalent vaccines.
The National Government, through MINSA, reiterates to the population the importance of not lowering their guard, maintaining self-care measures and applying their vaccine against Covid-19.
