They announce a change for the questioned alcabalas: now they are called service posts

The Minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, expressed during the 15th anniversary of the Bolivarian National Police that from now on the checkpoints will be called “checkpoints.” Citizens often denounce this type of operation as a racket by officials. The spokesperson also reported that they will soon have cameras to record these procedures.

The Minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, said this Friday, December 20 during the 15th anniversary of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), that the questioned checkpoints, which have been denounced by citizens as objects of noise by officials, will now be called “care posts.”

During the event, the minister praised the performance of the PNB and assured that this police force is above those that preceded it. In that sense, Cabello expressed that in the past the Metropolitan Police maintained a “State policy of repression and persecution against people who differed from the Punto Fijo Pact.”

In reference to the Pact of Spot Fixed, which was signed in 1958, after the overthrow of the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez and which served as an alliance that sought to give stability to democracy and avoid coups d’état.

“It is a challenge to be the best police in the world, the best police in the world must have a very high moral burden, they must earn the affection and respect of their people, they must make them feel safe just with their presence, that when a Venezuelan , see an auk… It is not called alcabala now, but rather a post of attention anywhere, feel the peace of mind and say these are mine, these are going to take care of me,” Cabello said.

Likewise, the official mentioned that there are 40,000 PNB officials deployed throughout Venezuela and 20,000 from the national guard, within the framework of security operations for the Christmas celebrations. Through a telephone contact, President Nicolás Maduro congratulated that security body on the anniversary and that the peace quadrants are the perfect formula, which can even be “exported to the world.”

Cabello also commented that on the 29th of this month the course to graduate as a police officer ends. “I am going to graduate as a police officer, I will be, with all the honor in the world, a Bolivarian national police officer, of this country, of that extraordinary body,” he said.

The Minister of the Interior said that they have reactivated the uniform factory for the PNB, that they have made efforts to improve the food and that there is still much to do.

“Our policy should not be abuse, brawling, but work and more work. We will soon have a camera to record our procedures and protect us, because they appear on the networks saying this police officer abused, but they do not show the previous behavior,” he said.

The official asked the police force to be better and provide security to citizens. The request occurs in the midst of a climate of repression, where there are more and more complaints of detainees, missing persons and excesses by the State security forces. Foro Penal registered 1,877 political prisoners in the country until December 16.
