They analyze the human rights of those deprived of liberty

In a meeting between the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, and the Vice Minister of Government, Juana López Córdoba, issues of the human rights of those deprived of liberty in prisons, the new law that will govern justices of the peace, as well as the Pro-Tempore presidency of the Comprehensive Regional Framework for Protection and Solutions (MIRPS) that Panama will assume in 2023.

During the visit to the Ombudsman’s Office, López extended to the governing body of human rights to form the Pro-Tempore presidency technical commission of the Comprehensive Regional Framework for Protection and Solutions (MIRPS), which is a pioneering initiative in the application of the Framework Comprehensive Refugee Response and a concrete contribution to the Global Compact on Refugees.

Among the axes of the Panama plan during the Pro Tempore Presidency of the MIRPS is education, health, employability, human rights, among other issues that are sought to be strengthened.

During the meeting, strategies were also analyzed to rehabilitate the Women’s Rehabilitation Center (CEFERE), ‘Cecilia Orillac de Chiari’, in order to guarantee the human rights of those deprived of liberty.
