A new figure for freezing the price of fuel at $3.32 has come to light from the dialogue table installed in the province of Veraguas, a proposal that has been accepted by both parties; unions and government, although the National Alliance for the Rights of the People (ANADEPO) was emphatic that they will not sign anything until the other points are agreed upon.
“We have made a lot of progress on the first point, there is a figure of $3.32, which we have agreed on; but we have not signed until the other pending points are exhausted,” said ANADEPO leader Luis Sánchez, explaining that at this moment there is a high-level commission that has to do with the basic family basket, evaluating some of the requests which they brought to the table.
He said that the issue of fuel still needs to be concluded so that this price is for all Panamanians and that they are not required to register on any platform, in addition to the fact that the cost must be paid with money from corruption without indebting the country.
He stressed that they carried a series of points in which they propose to freeze the basic basket without affecting the producer and allowing the Panamanian easy access to food.
He said that they requested the presence of the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, so that he be the one to lead said commission, so they took a one-hour break to wait for his arrival and return to the table.
He explained that for tomorrow they will install the table that has to do with the issue of medicines, and that they will remain in permanent session without signing any document until a consensus is reached on the pending points.
“We have made a break for an hour and we are going to keep it until after midnight if possible,” he assured.
Regarding the demonstrations, he said that they are still evaluating whether they continue or proceed to the openings.
