At the conference “Planning and Urbanism: the case of Medellín”leading engineering and architecture professionals analyzed the importance of collaboration between public and private actors, as well as citizen participation, for the creation of an urban plan that responds to the needs of the population of Santiago.
The panellists agreed that integrating diverse perspectives and adopting successful models, such as that of the Colombian city of Medellín, are essential to address urban challenges and promote inclusive and sustainable development.

The meeting, organized by the Association of Developers and Builders of Housing of Cibao (Aprocovici), was attended by Colombian architects Jorge Perez Jaramillo and Giovanna Speraas well as the general manager of MDE Urban Lab, Camilo Chaverra. Later, in a panel, the Dominican architects Gustavo More, Daritza Nicodemus and Gustavo Valdezshared their perspective on territorial planning.
Pérez Jaramillo stressed the importance of territorial, economic and social planning to transform the urban environment. He emphasized the need for collective agreements for the development of Santiago and stressed that an effective public policy and a committed government are crucial to solving urban problems, using the resources of the city. resources strategically.
Meanwhile, Spera mentioned that through urban design and the application of specific strategies, it is possible to improve the conditions of public spaces, which can attract more people to the city, even if they are not familiar with it.
