The executive vice president of the Dominican Electric Transmission Company, SA (ETED), Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada, held a working meeting with the Vice Minister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), Hugo Rivera, with the purpose of exchanging views on areas of strategic interest linked to the electrical transmission infrastructure and the development of the national energy sector.
During the meeting, foreign investment opportunities in the electrical transmission subsector with allied countries were analyzed, as well as the priorities defined in public planning and the portfolio of international cooperation initiatives that the ETED has been structuring within the framework of its institutional reorganization process. On behalf of the ETED, in addition to its executive vice president, Yomayra Martinó, advisor on sustainability and governance, and Fernelis Ramírez, director of Operations of the Energy Control Center (CCE), participated. Vice Minister Rivera was accompanied by his technical team for foreign trade and international cooperation.
Engineer Rodríguez Tejada highlighted that electrical transmission constitutes a strategic enabler for the integration of new renewable sources, strengthening the operational reliability and security of the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI). He stressed that advance planning and access to technical cooperation schemes are essential to accelerate projects that increase the resilience of the network in the face of climate events and growing energy demands.
For his part, Vice Minister Rivera reiterated MIREX’s interest in contributing to the leveraging of initiatives aimed at strengthening the institutional priorities of the ETED and consolidating international alliances that accompany the process of modernization of the Dominican electrical system.
The meeting is part of MIREX’s efforts to promote active energy diplomacy, aimed at positioning the Dominican Republic in strategic spaces for cooperation, financing and technical exchange, in coherence with the national objectives of energy transition, climate resilience and sustainable development.
