The European Union notified the “non grata” declaration of its ambassador to Nicaragua, Bettina Muscheidt, who, on the orders of the Daniel Ortega regime, left the country on October 1.

The bloc of 27 countries called the decision “unjustified and unilateral” and warned that these facts could translate into “reciprocity.”

The EU pointed out that they are studying the actions that they will implement after this new attack by the Nicaraguan administration and regretted that the Ortega-Murillos also decided to end their relations with the Netherlands without valid arguments.

Despite this, the European Union continues to advocate for a dialogue to find a solution to the social, political and humanitarian crisis that Nicaragua is experiencing. The political analyst and former deputy Eliseo Núñez Morales stresses that these outbursts by Daniel Ortega could cost him dearly due to the danger that losing the support of European countries would represent, and he does not rule out the expulsion of the delegate from the dictatorship.

The old continent focuses support programs with this nation aimed at the agricultural sector, sanitation, water, education, among others. Since 2012, the Association Agreement between the EU and Central America has been implemented.

Ortega’s designs would shake the country’s participation in that commercial exchange and the millions generated by exports would be at risk.

Ortega justice accused four workers of La Prensa of treason against the country. Those mentioned make up the team that covered the expulsion of the 18 nuns of the Missionaries of Charity order, whom Ortega ordered to leave for Costa Rica days after closing their charity organization.

The accusation, dated September 29, is headed by prosecutor Heydi Estela Ramírez Olivas. The two drivers they mention have been kidnapped in the cells of the Judicial Assistance Directorate (DAJ), since the beginning of July. La Prensa ordered the forced exile of all its staff after this new attack.

This Monday it was also known about another accusation against 13 opponents and their relatives for the alleged crimes of conspiracy to undermine national integrity and propagation of false news.

The accusations were presented on September 30 and October 1 in the Managua courts, according to a note from the press office of the Judicial Branch.

The dictatorship accuses the European Union of interference. The annoyance arises after a recent statement at the UN where the EU delegate called for the freedom of more than 200 political prisoners. European countries have approved resolutions against the regime and sanctions against more than 20 officials, among which Rosario Murillo stands out.

Next Wednesday the 52nd will be inaugurated. General Assembly of the Organization of American States where 33 foreign ministers from the continent will meet and Nicaragua is among the priority issues.

The delegates, said former ambassador Arturo McFields, are preparing a resolution condemning six points against the Nicaraguan regime for the excessive repression it is carrying out in Nicaragua, from which not even the religious leaders have escaped.

In the proposal, the ambassadors will request the release of political prisoners, the cessation of the repression of the Church, the implementation of a strategy that guarantees more protection and the granting of asylum. In addition, they remind Ortega that his actions increasingly affect the economy.

The opponents, for their part, indicated that they want actions and not resolutions, since the seriousness of the situation in Nicaragua warrants that they force the regime to stop its authoritarian drift.

The event will be held in Lima, Peru and the sessions will culminate on Friday, October 7.
