These are the most important news of November 18, 2024

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IDH-Court) has condemned the State of Nicaragua, represented by the dictator Daniel Ortega, to compensate the indigenous communities of the Caribbean for damages caused by the failed Interoceanic Canal project, an ambitious investment that the dictatorship Sandinista uses as part of its pharaonic promises and which until now have remained on paper and propaganda, but which keeps thousands of Nicaraguans who live in the so-called fringe under threat. channel.

On November 18, the Inter-American Court read the ruling in the case of the lawsuit filed by the Rama and Kriol peoples, the indigenous black Creole community of Bluefields and others, against the State of Nicaragua, for violation of their rights as indigenous communities. of the Caribbean with the Nicaragua Interoceanic Canal project, which the dictatorship had granted to a shady Chinese businessman, to the detriment of the properties of the indigenous peoples and the environment.

After reading the substantive ruling of the Inter-American Court, which had four judges voting in favor and one against, the continental court decided to condemn the Ortega dictatorship to compensate the damages caused to the Caribbean communities by this project. .

Although the State of Nicaragua was summoned to appear at the reading of the sentence that took place in San José, Costa Rica, no official representative of the Managua regime was present.

Basically, the international court declares Nicaragua “internationally responsible for the lack of community property protection and adequate consultation with respect to the Rama and Kriol peoples and the indigenous black Creole community of Bluefields” with the implementation of actions aimed at the execution of the project of the Grand Canal that was unsuccessful.

The dictator Daniel Ortega presented to the communist Chinese a new route for the construction of his delirious interoceanic Canal, which would always begin in the Caribbean port of Bluefields, passing through Zelaya Central, Chontales and would cross Lake Managua or Xolotlán and then route through the route to the West to end in the Port of Corinto, in the Pacific Ocean.

The Nicaraguan tyrant, obsessed with the work that had already failed once after the “embarkation” given by the Chinese Wang Jing, who turned out to be a bankrupt trickster, this time presented a 425-kilometer route that would pass through the department of Managua and Lake Xolotlán.

The new canal line presented by Ortega always begins in the Port of Bluefields and ends in the Port of Corinto, but divided into three segments. The first segment is called “Caribbean Segment”, it begins in the port of Blufileño itself; It extends for 68 kilometers and reaches an “artificial lake, El Escondido”, where, according to the tyrant’s project, “the El Escondido lock” would be built.

Then they drew the “central segment” of 252 kilometers, which crosses the tropical humid forests of El Rama, Nueva Guinea and goes out to the Chontales mountains, passes through the department of Boaco, in lands near Lake Nicaragua or Cocibolca and reaches the department of Managua, right in the municipality of San Francisco Libre.

The third section is the so-called “Xolotlán segment”, 55 km, which begins in San Francisco Libre, entering the waters of Lake Managua and leaves through the municipality of La Paz Centro, which is where the last section called “segment” begins. Pacific”, 70 kilometers long, which then extends to the Port of Corinto, where a lock called “La Fuente” would be built, and there the Ortega canal would end.

The Ortega and Murillo regime has attempted to present to the UN the issue of denationalization of opponents as a matter of “national sovereignty”, that is, that no one should get involved in it because it is a matter of “Nicaragua with its citizens.”

For Azahálea Solís, the position of the Managua regime is pure “lies and cynicism” because the tyrants try to impose on the international community that takes away nationalities because they are from Nicaragua, “something like: I killed her because she was mine,” exemplifies the lawyer. .

Likewise, the UDJ explains that the record of the arbitrary deprivation of nationality in Nicaragua in the case of the feminist activist and lawyer of that organization opens milestones for addressing statelessness in this Central American country that for several years has been seriously questioned in the international community for a series of human rights violations.

First of all, says the lawyers’ organization, “the committee has the opportunity to establish a criterion on the patterns of repression in Nicaragua, especially against human rights defenders.”

Furthermore, based on the recognition and official registration before the UN Human Rights Committee of the first case of statelessness in Nicaragua, “new jurisprudence on various rights not contemplated in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights” can be developed.

Likewise, “it may be the first case in which the Committee declares the autonomous violation of the “right to defend human rights”, marking an important advance for its protection worldwide.”
