The National Assembly canceled 19 other non-profit organizations, including the Granada International Poetry Festival Foundation. The Sandinista deputies stripped them of their legal status, alleging that the associations have carried out their activities outside the law, according to the new norm 1115 that governs NGOs.

According to parliamentarians, these organizations have expired boards of directors and have not updated their information or delivered their financial statements to the Ministry of the Interior.

The Mesoamerican Initiative of Women Human Rights Defenders (IM-Defensoras) issued an alert due to the serious state of health of the political prisoners Evelyn Pinto and María Esperanza Sánchez, imprisoned in the “La Esperanza” women’s prison, and demands that the State provide them with specialized medical care.

The agency indicated that the worsening of Pinto and Sánchez’s health is related to “systematic torture and ill-treatment, poor nutrition, medical neglect and deprivation of medication.”

On the other hand, the Nicaraguan writer Sergio Ramírez took advantage of this day to demand the freedom of the 182 political prisoners in Nicaragua. The novelist dedicated his words upon receiving the honorary doctorate degree from the National University of Costa Rica for his “valuable contributions to social development, culture and Central American literature.” This he told Costa Rican media:

After four days of siege of the San Juan Bautista church in Masaya, the Police at the service of the Ortega regime left the place, sources close to Father Harvin Padilla, pastor of the religious temple, informed Article 66.

The withdrawal of the police agents occurred hours after the regime arbitrarily imprisoned the opposition and former political prisoner Yubrank Suazo Herrera, on Wednesday, May 18, who is under alleged “investigation” in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) , in Managua, known as “El Nuevo Chipote”. The officers withdrew around three in the afternoon and the paramilitary presence diminished.

The illegitimate president, Daniel Ortega, announced that his regime is implementing a “savings policy” to ensure that the prices of fuel and basic services do not increase. Ortega accepted that Russia’s conflict with Ukraine is affecting the economies, although he pointed to the United States and Europe as being responsible.

Faced with the crisis, the regime opted for the freezing of fuel prices, which, according to Ortega, represents up to more than 4 million dollars a week, and consequently, the programs that are developed in the mayor’s offices and the autonomous regions of the Caribbean must be readjusted.

Due to this situation, the religious leader announced that he will fast indefinitely, from water and serum.

“Unfortunately, on this occasion I am writing to you (membership) to share with you that today (Thursday, May 19) I have been persecuted throughout the day by the Sandinista Police, from morning until this time of night, at all times, during all my movements of the day,” Álvarez said through a video published by the Diocese of Matagalpa on Facebook.
