The Ministry of Energy and Mines, at the service of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, continues with the wave of cancellations of mining concessions to subsequently hand them over to Chinese companies. In 1991, Meneses Cantarero, known as “the king of cocaine in Nicaragua”, was arrested in Managua with a load of more than 700 kilos of this drug. Although he received a 25-year prison sentence, he was only imprisoned for seven years before being released.

According to the Ministry of Mines, the inactivity in the Castaño Calero mining concession has prevented the carrying out of exploration and exploitation activities, failing to comply with the periods indicated in the concession title, which constitutes a reason for cancellation in accordance with the Special Law on Exploration and Exploitation of Mines, Law 387.

The persistent rains of recent days have begun to wreak havoc on the country’s infrastructure, as evidenced by the collapse of a section of highway between Matagalpa and Jinotega, which has cut off vehicular traffic on that road, according to information and images that have been published. published local media.

Local reports indicate that due to the constant rains of recent days, the soils have experienced water saturation, which is why, when they soften, they are prone to landslides, undermining or subsidence, as happened at kilometer 152.5 of the highway. land communication between Matagalpa and Jinotega, exactly in the Las Pilas community.

In that sector, according to the information known so far, a landslide occurred that caused the road to be disabled. Current conditions do not allow vehicular circulation. For this reason, the Traffic Police have placed checkpoints to prevent the passage of vehicles and avoid a tragedy.

The Northern Transport Cooperative announced through its social networks early in the morning that the entire fleet of its collective transportation buses that cover the Matagalpa-Jinotega route and vice versa, will be making trips along the route known as El Guayacán. , in order not to expose its users to an accident.

Returning to Nicaragua is an option proposed and valued by some opponents of the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, but on this issue there are various opinions that support the idea or categorically rule it out. The proposal is not new, until 2021 there was a dispersed opposition that tried to unite to confront the tyrant through electoral means.

This possible electoral “competition” led the regime to imprison, denationalize and exile seven opposition presidential candidates and a large group of activists, journalists, lawyers and young people to the United States.

Alex Hernández, a political activist from Catarina, exiled, denationalized and former member of various pro-democracy groups, stated that if the opposition wants to talk about elections to remove Ortega from power, they must “create a return route to the country.”
