In statements to the EFE news agency, the director, María Alicia Talavera, briefly reported that the resolution of the Judiciary “dissolves society” and the Police occupy the premises and their assets.

Since 2018, the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo has attacked at least four independent national media outlets, including 100% Noticias, Confidencial, La Prensa and, now, Trinchera de la Noticia; At the same time, it has censored departmental media and the Catholic Church, which was stripped of the Catholic Channel without any justification.

The regional network Voces del Sur documented 73 cases of press freedom violations in May: 65 were perpetrated against the media and eight against natural persons.

It indicates that, since the 2018 repression, at least 118 journalists have been forced into exile; and before the prison threats that worsened in May 2021, more than 70 communicators had to leave the country.

Voces del Sur warns that the repression reached the Catholic Church, which was stripped of the Catholic Channel. He also recalled that in 2021 the Christian-cut frequencies Enlace Canal 21 and Radio Nexo were cancelled.

The Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Managua, Monsignor Carlos Avilésexpanded his complaint about the tactics used by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo to carry out religious persecution against the Nicaraguan Church.

In statements to the journalist Josué Villalón on Radio María España, Monsignor Avilés pointed out that there are many cases of harassment of the clergy, including recordings of homilies, infiltrating people in the communities, in catechism, confirmation and first communion classes “to see what it is what they are teaching”, and they review about 50 homilies every week to know what they preach.

Asked by the journalist if there was any communication between the Church and the Ortega regime, Monsignor Avilés explained that “there is no dialogue” and that everything is limited to a few communication channels to talk about “emergencies.”

The Human Rights Collective Nicaragua Never Again condemned the “arbitrary” cancellation of 17 international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Nicaragua, and they were canceled for failing to register as “foreign agents.”

The organization warned that, to date, more than 400 organizations have been closed by the regime “violating the right to freedom of association, political participation, legal and due process, as well as contribution to the country.”

On June 10, the Government canceled 24 international entities, including the Dutch Service for Development Cooperation, Nuevas Esperanzas UK, the Minnesota-León Project and others from the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

The Italian researcher Xavier F. Salomon revealed that part of the relics of the León Cathedral are works of the famous goldsmith and jeweler Luigi Valadier (1726-1785). He stressed that this discovery is of great importance for Nicaragua and the world. The temple has 25 pieces that are part of the Valadier collection.

Among them are: twelve candlesticks, two monstrances (the rococo monstrance and the small monstrance that was believed to be a replica), a chalice, a ciborium and nine reliquaries, including the Lignum Crucis. Salomon assured that the relics are one of the greatest artistic treasures in Nicaragua, because the collection of the famous jeweler is not even in Rome.
