The Inter-American Legal Assistance Center on Human Rights (Calidh) considers that repression and violations of the human rights of citizens have intensified in Nicaragua, according to its 2022 report presented this Tuesday, January 31. The document compiles and denounces the serious situation of political prisoners, the restrictions on freedom of expression and the increase in gender violence.
The members of the Argentine Forum for Democracy in the Region (FADER) repudiated the abuses of the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo against the Nicaraguan opposition. They denounce that the repressive actions “deepen the regime of terror and violation of human rights” in the country.

Likewise, he demanded the government of Argentina, led by Alberto Fernández, to internationally condemn these human rights violations. Faced with these repressive actions, the organization pointed out that “we are facing an unlimited escalation by Ortega that must be strongly condemned by all democrats in the world.”
The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo once again placed Nicaragua in the ranking of the most corrupt countries in the world, the second in Latin America and the first in Central America, according to the annual report of Transparency International.
Transparency International called on the governments of the region to prioritize the fight against corruption and promote peace at the same time, and urged opening spaces to involve people in decision-making, from activists and businessmen to marginalized communities and youth groups.
The dictatorship is only surpassed in the region by his crony Nicolás Maduro, the dictator of Venezuela. According to the indicator of the most corrupt countries, Nicaragua is located in 167th place, one position less than the ranking corresponding to 2021, and with only 19 points out of a possible 100.
