The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo grants Nicaraguan nationality to Bashar Fayez Rashid Helal, the second son of Palestinian activist Leila Kaledh. Days earlier, it had granted nationality to Bader Fayez Rashid Helal, another of the political activist’s sons.
Bashar Rashid’s naturalization was published this Friday in La Gaceta, the official newspaper, and presented by the Ministry of the Interior. According to the published information, Rashid was born on December 25, 1985 in Damascus, Syria, has Jordanian nationality, is married, and has passport number Q253797. The publication reports that he resides in Managua; however, it does not indicate the time.

Kaledh’s eldest son, Bader Rashi, was naturalized four days ago and together with Bader, are the sons of Kaledh and doctor Fayez Rashid Helal, who until a few years ago lived in Amman, the capital of Jordan.
Leila Kaledh arrived in Nicaragua days before July 19, as a special guest at the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution. Kaled was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which between 1969 and 1970 led the hijacking of two airplanes, for which she is considered by Western countries as a “terrorist.”
The Ortega regime continues to expand its list of advisors. On this occasion, it decided to reward the Ortega supporter Wilmor Efrain Lopez Martinez, Recognized for his work in preserving Nicaraguan culture and tradition, naming him as “advisor for all issues of traditional and popular culture.”
In recent years, López Martínez has become one of the main promoters of culture and tradition linked to the Ortega regime. Before that, in his early days he even collaborated with Nicaraguan artists who were targeted by the dictatorship, including Carlos Mejía Godoy, with whom he collaborated in 1975 and whom he called his “tutor” at various times, since from that collaboration he began his career as a rescuer of Nicaraguan songs, traditions and folklore. Now Mejía Godoy is in exile in the United States.
In the midst of state persecution against the musician, López did not speak out in favor of his “master.”
In the extensive list of presidential agreements with which the dictator Ortega bombarded the official newspaper La Gaceta on August 9, the wife of his son Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, Mara Vanessa Stotti, also appears as one of the winners.
Ortega’s Justa Pérez Acuña was officially removed from her position as minister of the Ministry of Family, Community, Cooperative and Associative Economy (Mefcca), according to presidential agreement 140-2024.
The now ex-minister Pérez Acuña was reportedly removed from her post at the beginning of this week, although it was only made official this Friday. Rosario Murillo, in her midday speech on August 8, announced that the post of Minister of Mefcca would be occupied by Fulvia Castro Matus, Nicaragua’s ambassador to Brazil, who was expelled by the Brazilian government.
However, Pérez Acuña was given another position. Since Thursday, she has been serving as advisor to the President of the Republic for the Promotion and Development of Tourism and Tourism Enterprises.

Ortega also took the opportunity to name Ortega supporter Indiana Raquel Fuentes Ramírez as the substitute for Bosco Castillo, who served as minister of the Ministry of Agriculture (MAG), and supposedly — according to presidential agreement 129-2024 — “resigned” from the position he had held for just one year.
Castillo, for his part, was appointed rector of the National Agrarian University.
