At least six Nicaraguan priests have gone into exile for fear of being jailed

The Episcopal Conference of Nicaragua (CEN) issued a statement on the occasion of the Advent season that will begin on November 27, stating that despite the adversities, uncertainty and pain, “our Mother, the Virgin, does not abandon us.”

The bishops only focused on expressing their concern about the exodus of Nicaraguans and are silent about the persecution of the Nicaraguan regime against the Church, which has left 11 religious prisoners, the expulsion of the Missionaries of Charity and the house arrest of Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, who has not been seen or known about his physical and psychological state for more than 100 days.
