The Federal Department of Economic Affairs of Swiss decided to renew the santions against 21 officials and three institutions of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, due to the “serious violations of human rights and the repression of civil society and the democratic opposition in Nicaragua.”
The renewal of these sanctions entered into force on January 24, and will be valid for one more year, in which the situation in the Central American country will be evaluated. On the list of sanctioned are the vice president of Nicaragua Rosario Murillo and her children Laureano, Camila and Juan Carlos Ortega Murillo.

He Father Oscar Benavidezparish priest of Mulukukú, from the Diocese of Siuna, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, revealed the digital media office 505. He Father Enrique Martinez Gamboaparish priest of the Santa Martha Church, of the Archdiocese of Managua, will be subjected to a political trial on February 10, anonymous sources revealed to Article 66.
The religious is accused of the alleged crimes of conspiracy to undermine national integrity and propagation of false news to the detriment of the State of Nicaragua.
The priest was violently kidnapped on October 13, 2022 and became, at that time, the ninth religious imprisoned by the Ortega Murillo regime in the context of repression against the Nicaraguan Catholic Church.
