The priests Erick Ramírez Velásquez, from the temple of Telpaneca, municipality of Madriz; and Adalí Carrasco, from the Ciudad Antigua temple, Nueva Segovia municipality, were detained after their weekend religious activities.

Regime agents held them for hours. According to witnesses, the officers reminded them that “there are prohibited activities, just as it is forbidden to mention the name of Monsignor Rolando Álvarez in his homilies,” which, they warned, is punishable by jail.

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, through the General Directorate of Migration and Aliens, expelled the Italian priest Damián Muratori on Tuesday, after the Interpol of the European country requested Managua to extradite the religious after being allegedly accused of violence sexual.

“Today, Tuesday (February 14), Interpol has requested from the Government of Nicaragua the flight itinerary of the priest or friar Cosimo Damián Muratori, who is wanted in Italy for the crime of sexual violence, and was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, in the city of Perugia, Italy, in November 2019”, reads a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior.

The document adds that Muratori, “despite his crimes” was assigned since 2014 by his Religious Order to the custody of the Mausoleum of Father Odorico D’Andrea, in San Rafael del Norte, Nicaragua.”

After the expulsion of Fray Damián Muratori from the country, the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo reported that Interpol Italy has asked the Government of Nicaragua for the flight itinerary of the priest, convicted in his country in 2019 for “sexual violence.” However, Article 66 confirmed that the religious data does not appear in the international organization website.

The Interior assured that the priest “interfered insultingly in matters only concerning Nicaraguans.” At the Sunday mass, the priest described the imprisonment of Monsignor Álvarez as “a historical fact”, and asked to pray for other priests and the 222 political prisoners that the regime exiled to the United States.

the media Confidential revealed that the Bishop of Matagalpa, Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, was transferred since Thursday that he was locked up in the “La Modelo” prison to a maximum security cell.

The sources of the Church detailed to the website that the religious is kept alone and recently authorized the delivery of personal hygiene products.

The bishop is “very serene, full of God, aware and firm of the decision he adopted,” the source highlighted, in relation to Monsignor Álvarez’s refusal to get on the plane bound for Washington that represented his exile from Nicaragua.

The Nicaraguan regime announced on February 13 that it will allocate, through the National Technological Institute (Inatec), million-dollar funds “urgently” to provide maintenance for the printing press occupied in August 2021 to the newspaper La Prensa.

Through the administrative resolution published in The Gazette, the dictatorship expresses that the printing equipment will be used to reproduce the material that the center requires for its work. The regime will invest 3.25 million córdobas for the maintenance of the machinery owned by the newspaper.

The relatives of 35 political prisoners who were not released on February 9 called on the international community to support them and achieve the release of the hostages of the Nicaraguan dictatorship.

According to the relatives of the political prisoners, the prisoners were part of the official list, but “they were not taken into account by the regime for their release.”

Families and human rights organizations launched the virtual campaign “We are missing 35” to achieve the freedom of opponents.
