«He (Ortega) was a revolutionary like me, men from Colombia went to fight in the Sandinista Army. They stood shoulder to shoulder with the Nicaraguans fighting against the dictator (Somoza) and defeated him; They were men from M-19.

That is why we have the moral authority to tell (Daniel) Ortega ‘you don’t come in here.’ Because you are not going to be another revolutionary among the many who have gone over to the other side and from being a liberator to becoming a dictator,” Petro said.

Petro also mentioned, after his reference to Ortega, “you enter as a brother, not as a conqueror” and said that “empires end and free peoples always meet.”

This is not the first time that both leaders have faced each other. Months ago Ortega attacked Petro after the Colombian stated that there should be a national dialogue after accusations of fraud in the results of the elections in Venezuela and of which Maduro was proclaimed winner.
