Colombians will be able to enjoy several long weekends during the second half of the year. This must be taken into account!
As we progress in the second half of 2025Colombians have found long weekends a perfect opportunity to disconnect, travel or simply rest at home.
These festive “bridges”many of them thanks to the Emiliani Law, which moves certain holidays to the nearest Monday, have allowed citizens to make better use of their free time and balance work and personal life.

However, with less than three months left in the year, many people are wondering how many holidays are left ahead and how to organize your calendar to maximize those rest days.
Ready for another bridge?
According to the official calendar, Colombia will have a total of 18 holidays in 2025. So far, 14 of these days have already been celebrated, leaving a balance of 4 holidays pending for the rest of the year.
The next holiday on the calendar will be Monday, November 3, when All Saints’ Day is commemorated. Although this holiday is traditionally celebrated on November 1, The Emiliani Law establishes that it be moved to the nearest Monday, in order to promote long weekends that facilitate rest and internal tourism.
On Monday November 17th will celebrate the Independence of Cartagena, a date of great national significance that commemorates the city’s bravery in its fight for independence from Spain in 1811.
Later on Monday December 8 will be the day of the Immaculate Conceptiona religious festival deeply rooted in Colombian tradition.

The last holiday of the year will be Christmas, which in 2025 will fall on a Thursday, December 25. Although this date is not moved, the proximity to the weekend could allow an extended rest for many families who take advantage of the season to get together and celebrate.
What is the Emiliani Law?
The Emiliani Law has had a significant impact on the way Colombians enjoy their holidays. Of the 18 holidays that the country will have in 2025, 10 will be moved to Monday, thus favoring the creation of long weekends that not only benefit workers, but they also boost tourism and the local economy.
