The phenomenon of digitization is becoming increasingly important at a global level. In response to the new needs of consumers and the expansion of emerging technologies, Peruvian companies are applying five digital trends to generate value in their organizations, according to the EY Peru publication “digital trends: transforming Peru”.
“The companies that achieve the desired impact are those that have understood the need to undertake a meaningful digital transformation; that is, one that has users at the center of decisions, that is aligned with the business strategy and uses technology, without losing sight of the need to transform the organizational culture so that the changes are sustainable over time.”, explains Alain-Paul Michaud, EY Peru Consulting Associate Partner.
Currently, the cloud, advanced analytics, intelligent development, hyper-automation and cultural transformation are the main digital trends implemented by companies in Peru in their transformation processes and their transition towards smart organizations.

In this sense, EY Peru details the five digital trends that companies are applying in Peru to generate value:
- Cloud: As a result of the pandemic, various companies were unable to physically access their offices, and many of them found an enormous advantage in being able to work with applications hosted in the cloud. In our country, this adoption started late, but it is already reaching a level similar to Argentina, Chile and Colombia, due to the impact that its application has on cost reduction, technological modernization, security improvements, flexibility in response to business needs, among others.
- Advanced Analytics: This discipline combines mathematics, statistics and computer science to explore, analyze and interpret data extracted from multiple sources to support the decision-making process in companies. EY Peru notes that the data analytics market is growing at rates close to 30% per year, and that the development of capabilities allows companies to identify growth opportunities, which translates into an important competitive advantage.
- Smart development: This technology seeks to streamline the process and improve the time to market of technological solutions to align it with the companies’ expectations. Currently, one of the biggest challenges is speeding up the coding phase, which continues to be manual. For this, the Low-Code approach is presented as the best alternative, since it gives the company autonomy to develop its own solutions or automate processes, also reducing the burden for the IT area.
- Hyperautomation: robotic automation (RPA) is a way of automating a business process by means of a set of instructions that will be executed by a robot; meanwhile, intelligent automation is a second step, where technologies such as optical character recognition or machine learning are incorporated, which enhance RPA technology towards higher levels of efficiency. This is currently the fastest growing business software in the world.
- Culture Transformation: One of the most important challenges that organizations and individuals have experienced in the new work reality is the process of adopting new ways of operating, such as the combination of remote and physical work. In this context, purpose, values and culture, as well as close communication with leaders are key.
