Based on decree 2497 of December 2022 issued by the Government, Colombians will be able to acquire their Compulsory Traffic Accident Insurance (Soat) with the 50% discount, this as a measure to attack more than against high evasion and fraud that has been presented in the country against the policy.
But beware, the benefit is not for everyone and the 14 categories of vehicles that can access it have been defined.

As defined by the entity The following types of vehicles may access the benefit:
– Moped.
– Motorcycles of less than 100 in displacement.
– Motorcycles with cylinder 100 to 200.
– Motocar, tricimoto and quadricycle of displacement.
– motorcar of 5 passengers.
– Business cars under 1,500 cc and less than 10 years old.
– business cars less than 1,500 cc and 10 or more years old.
– Business cars of 1,500 and 2,500 cc less than 10 years old.
– Business cars between 1,500 and 2,500 cc and 10 or more years old.
– Business cars of 2,500 cc and less than 10 years old.
– Business cars of more than 2,500 cc and 10 or more years old.
– Buses and urban buses.
– Intermunicipal public service of less than 10 passengers.
– Intermunicipal public service of 10 or more passengers.

Going to the ownership card of your vehicle: in general, these documents have the technical specifications: type of vehicle, cylinder capacity, age and passenger capacity. How to access the differential rate?
You are part of the beneficiaries if at the time of purchasing your insurance the characteristics of your vehicle, according to the information registered in the Runt, correspond to the categories defined by Decree 2497 of 2022.
The incorporated medical services in the Soat coverage are: initial emergency care, hospitalization, supply of medical-surgical material, osteosynthesis, orthosis and prosthesis, drug supplytreatments and surgical procedures, diagnostic and rehabilitation services.
What to do if you apply for the discount but it is not granted?
