These are the 5 best places in Chile to see the Annular Solar Eclipse in October 2024, according to National Geographic

Next Wednesday, October 2, Chile will witness a spectacular astronomical event: a solar eclipse popularly known as the “Ring of Fire.” This phenomenon occurs when the Moon covers the center of the Sun, leaving a bright ring around it. According to National Geographic, Chile offers several privileged places to observe this unique event.

1) Rapa Nui (Easter Island)

Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, is the first point in Chili where the eclipse will make landfall. At 19:07 UTC, islanders and visitors will be able to enjoy full visibility of the eclipse for 6 minutes and 23 seconds. The island, famous for its moai and rich Polynesian culture, offers a mystical setting that further enriches the experience. To reach Hanga Roa, the main populated area, you must take a flight of approximately 5 hours from Santiago with LATAM.
