The future president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Hugo Aguilar Ortiz, and Minister Yasmín Esquivel Mossa struggled to end inequality in access to justice, especially for members of indigenous peoples. Both participated yesterday in a session of the Indigenous Affairs Chamber of the State of Mexico, in which amnesty was awarded to a Mazahua woman, older adult and victim of violence, sentenced by simple homicide.
In the session, Aguilar called to reflect on the scope of the indigenous affairs rooms and stressed that “we will only live in peace when justice reaches all corners of the country.”
For its part, Minister Lenia Batres, in a meeting with social and residents of the Iztacalco Mayor’s Office, said the new Judicial Power of the Federation (PJF) will leave the practice of “insured impunity” for corrupt judges with the entry into operation of the Judicial Discipline Court.
