The National Statistics Office (ONE) reported this Sunday that there are two additional days to the 13 established to complete the total coverage of the Tenth National Population and Housing Census 2022.
According to Víctor Romero, in charge of the ONE Census Department, the two additional days, which would be November 24 and 25, are for the recovery of 100% coverage.
“We have always said that there are two additional days of coverage recovery in some areas, in case there is a phenomenon or a situation in those sectors,” he stressed.
Census advances in 26 provinces with 93%
The Tenth National Population and Housing Census 2022 advances with 93 percent of electronic equipment (tablets) working in 26 provinces, while in the remaining six demarcations of the country’s total, there is a percentage between 60 and 88 percent of connectivity of the teams.
This was reported by ONE officials during a press conference at the institution’s facilities. The person in charge of the ONE Census Department said that it is expected that by Tuesday all the enumerators with their electronic equipment working will be scattered throughout the national territory.
Víctor Romero clarified that the delay they have had from the 10th to today “is due to the difficulties that occurred in the registration process and the linking of the database with the connectivity to the servers.”

They continue to support technicians
“With all the steps that have to be executed, it was not possible to do it effectively in all the places and that is what has caused us that in some provinces we are not 100 percent,” he added.
In this sense, Ravel Domínguez, director of the Department of Information and Communication Technology of the ONE, said that they continue to give support to technicians who have had difficulties in the field to connect.
“It’s not just turning on the tablets and it’s just going to work, it’s a process that takes several steps, that when a step flies, then the user can’t do it successfully,” he said.
Defection of pollsters
Other elements that have affected the process of the national census are some desertions that have occurred of the personnel trained for the exercise. In that sense, Romero explained that the desertions are contemplated from before the training.
“In some provinces, the mattress that was needed or the eligible bank to train was greater and in this way to be able to replace those people who for various reasons desert these types of processes,” he replied.
500 clothing kits were missing
During this Sunday’s report on the development of the census, it was also reported that in Greater Santo Domingo the National Statistics Office (ONE) was late with the delivery of 500 clothing kits (caps, vests, and identification card).
Community members use methods to be registered
Despite the inconveniences in the process, which is normal in the first days according to ONE officials, the Dominican population has contributed to the development of the census.
“In an open or sectorized manner, we have not received any complaint that a group of citizens has categorically rejected the census,” clarified the person in charge of the ONE Census Department.
Víctor Romero said that, on the contrary, some neighborhood associations and condominiums have created methods to help the census personnel to register them.
He indicated that one of the strategies that some sectors have used is the completion of common areas of condominiums or apartments so that all the people in the homes can offer their data and thus feel safer from crime.
