The president explained that the central axis of the reform is the strengthening of a model of primary and preventive attention that has as protagonists the Primary Care Centers.
Petro described it as territories of “gradual planning” to guarantee health coverage throughout the country. “The main task will be that a professional health force can care for families on a daily basis in their homes“, said.
These centers will be in Usme, Bosa, Ciudad Bolívar and, also, the most remote places in the center of the country, such as Acandí, Capurganá, La Guajira and else. After the first attention in these places, the second level will be entrusted to the network of hospitals and public-private clinics.

Petro clarified that this implies that there will be no intermediation of the public resource, since the Administrator of the Resources of the General System of Social Security in Health, Adres, will be in charge of receiving the invoices and paying the processes carried out in health centers.
