There will be 'Bogotá Despierta' this weekend for Mother's Day

This weekend will be celebrated in Colombia (and in other Latin American countries) the Mother’s Day, celebration that takes place in our country every second Sunday of May, so there is no specific date for this day.

On the Bogotá side, Fenalco has already announced Bogota-Cundinamarca that there will be a day of ‘Bogota Awake’, in order to reach high levels of economic activation among merchants for this May 7 and 8.

According to the entity, this weekend is expected to be one of the most important in commercial sales of this first semester and the second most important of the year after Christmas, ensuring that 90% of the city’s inhabitants join to this celebration and that merchants are waiting for their sales to increase by nearly 70%.

It should be noted that this is one of the first days that will be held in the capital without biosecurity measures to contain the covid-19 virus (such as the use of face masks). However, the director of Fenalco Bogotá-Cundinamarca, Juan Esteban Orrego, emphasized that there are about 6,500 establishments that will be part of the day, in order to avoid crowds.

“The extended business hours in Bogotá Despierta are ideal to have more possibilities to celebrate and buy gifts, avoiding congestion and thus continue taking care of ourselves, because although the use of face masks is no longer mandatory, many people will continue to use it”, Orrego told the newspaper El Espectador.

For now, merchants who want to be part of the day can include their brand through this link.
