The @dges_Uruguay instructs summary and dismisses the director for “insubordination” when his actions were to address the concern and freedom of expression of students. As if that were not enough, he applied a norm protected by the Education Law of 1973 signed by JM Bordaberry. https://t.co/sN8FSgVIsM

The union issued a statement in which it expressed its most “strong repudiation” of the “excessive abuse” of the General Directorate of Secondary.
“In an action typical of dark times, he instructs summary proceedings and dismisses the director of the IAVA for ‘insubordination’, when his actions focused on addressing the concerns and freedom of expression of students,” they stated in the letter.
They also branded the High School resolution as “repressive”, “anti-union” and “undemocratic”, also based on the “disastrous” Education Law approved by Juan María Bordaberry.
“These norms of the fascist dictatorship that the current administration embraces are happily repealed by subsequent democratic norms. Their application in the current context expresses the notorious anti-democratic and repressive spirit of those who promote them,” Fenapes added in his statement.
