Interpellation to Minister Heber: homicides in Cologne have already exceeded those of 2022. Thefts and robberies increased
For more than 20 hours, the questioning of the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, was carried out in the House of Representatives by the Frente Amplista deputy Sebastián Valdomir.
Deputy Nicolás Viera questioned the inaction of the Ministry in the face of the “wave of crimes” that the department of Colonia is experiencing.
According to Viera, based on official data, homicides in 2023 (4) have already exceeded all homicides in 2022 (3).
In addition, the robberies between January and May 2022 were 18 and in the same period of 2023 they were 36, 100% more.
“The government believed that it was blowing and making a bottle and it could not. It’s a shame for the expectation it generated in society. The worst thing is that they don’t want to see it,” said Viera.
“Minister Heber must resign because his management is a disaster, with loss of credibility and unfortunate improvisations,” said Viera.
The Broad Front decided to activate the process of censorship of the Minister, so a new session will have to meet next week to consider the issue.
At the end of the interpellation, Cabildo Abierto and the Frente Amplio voted a motion that establishes that “the current management of the Ministry of the Interior has not been able to fulfill the fundamental commitments in terms of security that the Government Coalition presented to the citizens in its document Compromiso with the Country”.
“Minister Heber left Parliament without support,” concluded Viera.
