The Union Tranviarios Automotor (UTA) and the business chambers of the activity failed to reach an agreement this Friday at the hearing convened by the Ministry of Labor to overcome the conflict and complete the parity salary increase already agreed for the interior of the country, so that the parties passed to another quarter intermission until tuesday.
Trade unionists and businessmen could not settle differences in the labor portfolio, so the negotiations will continue on Tuesday, labor and union sources reported.
The Ministry of Labor had called a new conciliatory meeting in another attempt to unblock the conflict over the application of the salary increase agreed upon in joint negotiations for interior personnel, after a 48-hour strike.
On this occasion, according to sources from both sectors, The meeting was held virtually to guarantee the participation of representatives from the interior of the country.
“The negotiation is stalled, so the UTA does not rule out the possibility of increasing and deepening the force measures“, said the press secretary of the union, Mario Calegari, who explained that on Wednesday and yesterday a two-day strike was carried out to demand the payment of a salary increase already agreed in the sector’s parity.
The force measure, which affected urban passenger transport lines in the interior, did not include the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) or the provinces of Río Negro, Chaco and La Rioja, in which there was an agreement with local businessmen .
The general secretary of the union, Roberto Fernández, ratified this afternoon the request for “equal wages” for workers throughout the country, as “at the time it was agreed for the AMBA”, and emphasized that “the necessary food and products continue to rise “.
“It seems that the intention is to place the interior workers in the second category and there is a lack of commitment, so the UTA ratifies the state of alert and warns that if there is no agreement, the protests will deepen,” said Fernández.
The leader demanded the direct participation in the conflict of the new Minister of Labor, Raquel Olmos; of the Transport authorities and the Interior portfolio.
