MIAMI, United States. — Residents of the municipality of Old Havana were part of the rescue and rescue efforts after the strong explosion recorded this Friday at the Saratoga hotel.
Adrián Salazar, who lives near the hotel, was one of those who helped the victims of the accident.

Salazar told this newspaper that there were at least 19 dead and another 15 people in serious danger to life, a figure different from those reported by the authorities, which so far have recorded eight deaths, 30 people injured and another 13 missing.
Evacuated neighbors and elementary school children
Authorities of the Cuban regime indicate that most of those injured as a result of the incident are in the Calixto García, Hermanos Ameijeiras and Miguel Enríquez hospitals.
Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Havana, told official media that it is possible that among the victims of the incident were passers-by who were circulating in front of the hotel at the time of the explosion.
The official also reported that the children of the elementary school that is next to the facility were evacuated to the Capitol, as well as the families of the building adjoining the tourist facility.
At the close of this article, the Havana fire brigade is still working on rescue and salvage tasks within the facility.
