According to the company that manages the tolls, both Tazón and La Cabrera are undergoing a trial period.
The company Cobremex, which was designated for the collection of tolls throughout the national territory, issued a statement over the weekend of Sunday, July 3, to inform that the opening of the Tazón and La Cabrera tolls, in the Central Regional Highway.
According to the text, Cobremex indicated that in Tazón and La Cabrera they remain in a “test period” with respect to the different passage channels established by the company in charge.
He recalled that the blue and orange channels, which are for light and heavy vehicles respectively, use the Cobretag automated system, which allows the user to pay without having to queue at the facilities, while the green channel can be paid in cash and debit, but all types of vehicles pass.

The toll system was eliminated in 2008, when there were 42 assets throughout the country and they were used to collect money in order to maintain major communication routes. The elimination of the collection then caused the dismantling of the facilities.

The Ministry of Land Transport and Public Works, according to the big village, entrusted in 2015 to the governorates the administration of the tolls that were in their jurisdiction. They were given a period of one year to adapt the facilities and initially only cargo transportation was charged.
At the beginning of March 2022, President Nicolás Maduro announced that the collection of tolls in the country was returning so that the proceeds would be used for road improvements, 24-hour police patrols and free tow truck and ambulance services.
