The member of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) Nelly Arista announced this Saturday that she will recognize the arcist Grover García as president of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), in compliance with one of the controversial rulings of the Plurinational Constitutional Court (TCP).
On November 14, through constitutional ruling 0776/2024-S4, the TCP validated the congress of the Arcista MAS, held in May of this year in the city of El Alto and where García was elected as president of said fractional political organization.
Arista said that the TSE “is going to mechanize this sentence” and that the criteria of his fellow members will be known in a future Plenary Chamber.
“But this member is going to recognize, according to the sentence, the president elected in El Alto. That is what it says in the sentence and just as the law says, There is nothing more to discuss, it is mandatory”, he stated.
The member considered that the TCP made “good reasoning” when issuing its ruling and when asked by journalists if former President Evo Morales can still file an appeal, she responded: “Res judicata, definitive, there is no further appeal, from beyond the grave”.
On Friday, Morales assured that he is still the president of the MAS and that the constitutional ruling that removed that status from him is “illegal” and “null.”
