The National Metereological Service (SMN) issued this Sunday afternoon a weather alert for storms for the south and southwest of the province of Buenos Aires, east of La Pampa, much of Córdoba, and part of San Luis, Corrientes and Misiones.
The SMN issued a yellow storm alert for this Sunday night in the Buenos Aires towns of Adolfo Alsina, Daireaux, Guaminí, Pellegrini, Salliqueló, Trenque Lauquen, Tres Lomas, General Lamadrid, Laprida and Olavarría, in the south-southwest of the province.
In addition, “accumulated precipitation values between 20 and 70 mm are expected throughout the period, and may be exceeded locally. The highest values are expected over the east of La Pampa, and the south and southwest of the Province of Buenos Aires.
The SMN also warned the same for the Córdoba towns of Juárez Celman and Río Cuarto, as well as Río Primero, Río Segundo and Tercero Arriba.
The weather alert applies to the south and southwest of the province of Buenos Aires, east of La Pampa, much of Córdoba, and part of San Luis, Corrientes and Misiones.
The warning also covers the Santa Fe towns of Caseros and General López, in the south of the province, and General Obligado, San Javier and Vera (north).
On the other hand, the SMN reported an orange alert for storms in the Corrientes towns of Berón de Astrada, Capital, Empedrado, General Paz, Itatí, Mburucuyá, Saladas, San Cosme and San Luis del Palmar.
In this case, the alert includes tonight, and Monday morning, when it changes to yellow for the afternoon and evening.
Likewise, in Laishí, Pilagás, Pilcomayo and Pirané, in eastern Formosa.
The same was warned by the SMN for the missionary towns of 25 de Mayo, Apóstoles, Cainguás, Concepción, Leandro N. Alem, Oberá, San Javier and Sur de Guaraní.
The orange alert implies that “the area will be affected by heavy rains and storms, which may be accompanied by intense gusts, strong electrical activity, hail and, fundamentally, abundant rainfall.”
“Accumulated precipitation values between 70 and 120 mm are expected throughout the period under alert, and may be exceeded in a timely manner,” the SMN specified.
