Let us remember that Cortizo suffers from myelodysplastic syndrome, a type of blood cancer, which depending on the type would give a life expectancy to those who suffer from it from 6 months to 15 years.
The first lady assured that the doctors explained to her in 80% of the tests carried out that instead of having 5% to 9% of negative cells, it was reduced from 3% to 2%, which means that she continues to suffer from the disease but less aggressive way. 20% of the exam results are still missing.
“In other words, we are going to have a president for a while,” Colón de Cortizo said, noting that with this new diagnosis one of the president’s greatest concerns dissipates, since he was worried that he could complete his term and “in effect, he will do so.” , because you will be able to continue having a normal life because the treatments are not aggressive or disabling.
The first lady said that there are three options in the face of the president’s health scenario, the first would be to observe and do nothing, the second is some injections and the third is an oral medication. Colón de Cortizo did not detail which of these options the president will accept.
